Regular maintenance of your motorhome is important to ensure longevity and performance. We recommend servicing your motorhome at least once a year or every 10,000 miles, whichever comes first. At Maple Leisure our state-of-the-art workshop is equipped with the latest tools and technology to handle a wide range of services.
In the UK, the type of driving licence you are required to hold depends on the weight and size of your motorhome. Typically, a standard Category B driving licence allows you to drive motorhomes up to 3,500kg. For larger motorhomes above this weight, a Category C or C1 licence may be required, which will need further tests to achieve.
Motorhomes provide a unique and enjoyable driving experience. Most drivers find them straightforward and manageable, with smaller models often feeling similar to ‘normal cars.’ Building confidence is easy—starting with shorter trips can be a great way to get comfortable. Renting one before purchasing can also provide valuable first-hand experience.
Seatbelt requirements depend on the vehicle’s age and seating positions. Modern motorhomes typically have three-point seatbelts for front seats, and either two-point or three-point belts for rear seats. If seatbelts are installed, passengers must use them. Older models may have different regulations.
Yes, there are! For motorhomes over 3,050 kg unladen weight, the UK speed limits are 30 mph in built-up areas, 50 mph on single carriageways, 60 mph on dual carriageways and 70 mph on motorways. Always stick to signs and adjust your speed based on road conditions.
You certainly can! You will need the following to do so, though: Valid passport & driving licence, insurance with European cover, V5C owner’s logbook and a Crit’Air sticker (for some French cities). The rules around having a GB or UK sticker on your vehicle when you’re travelling in Europe are as follows: If your number plate has a Union Jack with UK on it, then no sticker is required. If your plate only has GB or an EU symbol then you need a UK sticker. If you’re traveling in Spain you must have a UK sticker, regardless of your plate.
Yes, you can! Many motorhomes are designed to cope with year-round use. Make sure your vehicle is winterised (including adequate insulation and heating systems) so that you can stay comfortable during the colder months.
