Frequently asked questions about AllA motorhome is a larger, self-contained leisure vehicle which includes dedicated living space (bathroom and kitchen, plus social and sleeping areas). A campervan is typically smaller than a motorhome, converted from a van chassis, and may have more basic amenities (often without a separate bathroom).
It’s simple! Think about various factors including –  Number of travellers (families may need a motorhome, while solo travellers or couples would be perfectly catered for by a campervan); Length of trip (for short trips you’ll need fewer amenities, but longer term travel is better supported by more space and storage, etc); Manoeuvrability (larger motorhomes take more skill to drive).
Yes, you do. Your leisure vehicle is not covered in your standard car insurance policy. Types of motorhomes or campervan insurance policy include: Comprehensive (coverage for damage or theft); Breakdown and roadside assistance; Habitation coverage for fixtures and appliances on the interior. Make sure you have a policy tailored to your vehicle and usage to protect your investment.
Yes, you can! At Maple Leisure we offer motorhome finance through our finance partner Mann Island. By using this option, you can drive away in the motorhome or campervan of your dreams and spread its cost into affordable monthly payments. Terms and Conditions apply, please check our finance section on this website.
Motorhomes have three types of tanks: Freshwater (supplies clean water for sinks and showers); Greywater (collects waste from sinks and showers); Blackwater (holds toilet waste). Your vehicle waste must be emptied at designated disposal stations (you can find these at campsites and other places along your route). Some campervans use cassette toilets, which are emptied manually.
Yes you do. Your vehicle must remain road-legal in its country of registration – meaning valid UK road tax and, if applicable, a current MOT certificate. This compliance is often a requirement of insurance policies and is mandatory for driving in European countries.
Yes and no! If you watch or record live TV broadcasts or use the online BBC iPlayer in your motorhome or campervan, a valid TV licence is needed. If you already have a licence for home, it will cover you as long as TV isn’t being watched simultaneously at both locations. Consult the TV Licence guidelines for more information.
